Amplifier Electrical Noise

I have just bought myself a new amplifier and speakers. Sounds excellent, but only one problem, i am getting electrical noise from my PC. At first i thought that it was coming directly from the PC as that is the only thing that i have connected, but it turns out that no matter what input on the amp i select i can still hear what can only be described as as hissing noise of the pcs fans and hard drive activity (which kind of matches up with the activity led on the front of the pc). When music is playing you cant really hear it, but if its a quite breakdown you are aware that its there. I get this both through headphones and the speakers, so i know its not the speaker cable. The only way that i can think that i am getting this interference is through the mains. The amp and pc are both connected to the same six way surge protected mains strip.

Anyone had this same kind of problem or know of how to resolve it. Any ideas would be appreciated.

If possible, connect the pc to a different plug socket away from the amplifier one - that should stop the interference.
Failing that, one of the more expensive types of surge protection socket things might sort it - but I'd try to use a different socket first - most rooms have at least 2 or 3 sockets so should be easy to sort

I had the same problem with my spare cheapo mixer and moving it to a different socket did the trick.
